In today’s gospel, Jesus said he came not to abolish the law but to fulfill it. He described such fulfillment as a matter not of legal argumentation but of holiness, reconciliation and the obedience of faith. Jesus encouraged the disciples to let their “Yes” mean “Yes” and their “No” mean “No.”
