Welcome Fr. Bogdan, Parochial Vicar, St. Leander Parish
We are happy to welcome Fr. Bogdan to our parish community as our new Parochial Vicar. His journey of faith, deep love for the Church, and heart for service already bring a beautiful presence to St. Leander.
A Calling Rooted in Faith
Fr. Bogdan first felt the call to the priesthood after high school, a calling nurtured by a strong Catholic upbringing. His parents were deeply involved in the life of the Church—his father as a choir member and his mother in marriage preparation ministry. Their example of faith and service helped shape his own “yes” to God.
Even now, Fr. Bogdan reflects with humility on his vocation, sharing that what has surprised him most about being a priest is simply this: that God chose him.
A Heart for the Universal Church
Fr. Bogdan has served in different parts of the world, including Ukraine and Peru, and brings with him a deep appreciation for the richness of the global Church. He speaks Spanish and is currently working on learning English, and he warmly welcomes anyone who would like to help him along the way.
What he hopes people experience at St. Leander is something simple but powerful:
a sense of unity.
He shares that the Catholic Church, true to its name, is meant to embrace everyone—across cultures, languages, and backgrounds. Through the liturgy and the sacraments, he hopes each person encounters a clear path toward Christ.
Love for the Mass and Service
When asked what he loves most about the Mass, his answer is immediate: everything.
For Fr. Bogdan, the Eucharist is the center of his priesthood and the heart of parish life.
He also brings a deep spirit of service. Even when asked about free time, he simply says, “All my time is for serving.” Still, he enjoys skiing and mountain climbing—something that connects to his roots in a mountainous region.
Devotion and Spiritual Life
Fr. Bogdan has a strong devotion to Divine Mercy, a spirituality close to his Polish heritage. He is also involved in the Living Rosary, a worldwide movement of prayer that has existed for over 200 years.
Among the saints, he holds a special love for:
- Saint Faustina
- Blessed Pauline Jaricot
- Saint Philomena
- Saint John Paul II
- Saint Albert of Poland
- And now, Saint Leander of Seville and Saint Junípero Serra
Each has shaped his spirituality and continues to inspire his ministry.
A Parish Rich in Gifts
One of the first things Fr. Bogdan has noticed at St. Leander is the vibrant variety of ministries—especially the many liturgical groups and choirs that serve at each Mass. He sees this as a great blessing and a sign of a living, active parish.
He is grateful for the many parishioners already involved and looks forward to walking alongside the community as he continues to learn and grow here.
A Simple Invitation
Fr. Bogdan shares this advice for anyone seeking to grow closer to God:
“Be humble of heart and serve others.”

Nos llena de alegría dar la bienvenida al Padre Bogdan a nuestra comunidad parroquial como nuestro nuevo Vicario Parroquial. Su camino de fe, su amor por la Iglesia y su corazón de servicio ya son una gran bendición para San Leandro.
Un llamado nacido en la fe
El Padre Bogdan sintió el llamado al sacerdocio después de la escuela secundaria, un llamado que fue cultivado dentro de una familia profundamente católica. Sus padres estuvieron muy involucrados en la vida de la Iglesia—su padre como miembro del coro y su madre en la preparación matrimonial. Su ejemplo de fe y servicio influyó profundamente en su vocación.
Con humildad, el Padre Bogdan comparte que lo que más le ha sorprendido del sacerdocio es simplemente esto: que Dios lo haya elegido.
Un corazón para la Iglesia universal
El Padre Bogdan ha servido en distintas partes del mundo, incluyendo Ucrania y Perú, lo que le ha dado una gran apreciación por la riqueza de la Iglesia universal. Habla español y actualmente está aprendiendo inglés, y agradece a quienes puedan apoyarlo en este proceso.
Su deseo para todos los que vienen a la iglesia es claro: que experimenten unidad.
Nos recuerda que la Iglesia Católica, fiel a su nombre, acoge a todos—sin importar cultura, idioma o condición. A través de la liturgia y los sacramentos, espera que cada persona encuentre un camino claro hacia Cristo.
Amor por la Misa y el servicio
Cuando se le pregunta qué es lo que más ama de la Misa, su respuesta es sencilla: todo.
Para el Padre Bogdan, la Eucaristía es el centro de su sacerdocio y el corazón de la vida parroquial.
También vive un profundo espíritu de servicio. Incluso cuando habla de su tiempo libre, dice: “Todo mi tiempo es para servir.” Aun así, disfruta esquiar y hacer montañismo, actividades que le recuerdan su origen en una región montañosa.
Devoción y vida espiritual
El Padre Bogdan tiene una fuerte devoción a la Divina Misericordia, muy arraigada en su herencia polaca. También participa en el Rosario Vivo, un movimiento mundial de oración con más de 200 años de historia.
Entre los santos, tiene una especial devoción por:
- Santa Faustina
- Beata Paulina Jaricot
- Santa Filomena
- San Juan Pablo II
- San Alberto de Polonia
- Y ahora también San Leandro de Sevilla y San Junípero Serra
Cada uno ha marcado su espiritualidad y sigue guiando su ministerio.
Una parroquia llena de dones
Una de las cosas que más le ha llamado la atención en San Leandro es la gran variedad de ministerios—especialmente los distintos grupos litúrgicos y coros en cada Misa. Lo considera una gran bendición y una señal de una comunidad viva y activa.
Está agradecido por todos los feligreses que ya sirven y espera seguir caminando junto a la comunidad mientras aprende y crece en esta nueva etapa.
Una invitación sencilla
El Padre Bogdan nos deja este consejo para acercarnos más a Dios:
“Sean humildes de corazón y sirvan a los demás.”
Al comenzar su ministerio en San Leandro, los invitamos a darle una cálida bienvenida, orar por él y presentarse después de la Misa.
