Anointing of the Sick
“By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them. And indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ.”
Catechism of the Catholic Church
The Anointing of the Sick is a beautiful sacrament of healing, comfort, and grace. Rooted in the compassion of Christ, it offers spiritual strength, peace, and courage to those who are seriously ill, preparing for surgery, or facing the challenges of aging.
Through the prayers and anointing by a priest, Jesus brings healing—not only of body, but of heart and soul. It is a reminder that we are never alone in our suffering; God is with us, offering hope and love.
Monthly Anointing at Mass
We invite you to join us for Holy Mass with the Anointing of the Sick on the First Saturday of every month at 8:00 a.m. All are welcome—whether you are in need of healing or wish to pray for others.
Requesting the Sacrament
If you or a loved one would like to receive the Anointing of the Sick outside of Mass—before surgery, during illness, or while hospitalized—please contact the Parish Office at (510) 895-5631 to schedule an appointment.
Let us walk with you in faith and prayer, trusting in God’s healing presence.
