The Ministry of Art and Environment (Altar Guild)
“Beauty that Speaks the Language of Faith”
At St. Leander’s, the Ministry of Art and Environment—also known as the Altar Guild—plays a vital role in shaping the sacred space where we gather to worship. Through thoughtful decoration and design, this ministry helps create an atmosphere that reflects the beauty, reverence, and rhythm of the Church’s liturgical seasons.
What We Do
Our mission is to enhance the worship experience by using visual elements—color, texture, flowers, fabric, and more—to express the deep truths of our faith. These artistic expressions help inspire devotion, foster reflection, and invite the faithful into fuller participation in the liturgy.
We work primarily around the major liturgical seasons—Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter—but also meet weekly to care for the church’s floral arrangements and ensure everything is in harmony with the upcoming liturgies.
Who Can Join?
We welcome anyone with a creative spirit and a heart for service! Whether you’re an artist, seamstress, crafter, interior or floral designer, or simply someone who enjoys working with your hands, there’s a place for you here.
All we ask is a willingness to collaborate, try new ideas, and contribute to a shared vision of beauty and reverence.
