Second Collection is for St. Vincent de Paul
Segunda colecta es para San Vicente de Paul
The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, a holyday of obligation, will be celebrated on Monday, December 8. There will be a 7 am English Mass with rosary at 6:15 am, 8:30 am school Mass, and 7 pm multicultural Mass with multilingual rosary at 6 pm.
All are invited for free Movie Night on Sunday, December 14. We will be showing a 1992 movie in the parish office. There will be a 4:30 pm showing in English and a 6:30 pm showing in Spanish. Popcorn and drinks will be provided.
This is the last Sunday of November. Please remember to retrieve your image of your departed loved one from the altar of repose in the vestibule. The altar will be taken down this week.

Q: What is a holyday of obligation?
A: A holyday (where we get the secular term “holiday” from) of obligation includes all Sundays and special solemnities chosen by a nation’s bishops, such as Christmas or All Saints. On these days, all Catholics are “bound to participate in the Mass” and even called to observe “proper relaxation of mind and body” (CIC, 1247).
The technical use of obligation may make it seem like a chore or requirement. But while hugging our children, loving our spouse, or being present for a friend’s tough moments in life are all technically obligations, we don’t generally think of them that way because these acts flow naturally from our desire to show our love to others. In a similar way, while these holydays are technically obligatory, it may be helpful to see that they really are opportunities for us to show up for one another in community by celebrating together our shared love of God and neighbor.
For the Christmas season, we invite everyone to join our Parol (pah-roll) Workshop on Dec 6, 1-3pm, CCD Room, hosted by the Filipino Community.
Make your own beautiful paper parol — a traditional Filipino Christmas lantern. The workshop costs $15. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult.

La Solemnidad de la Inmaculada Concepción, día de precepto, se celebrará el lunes 8 de diciembre. Habrá una misa en inglés a las 7:00 a. m. con rosario a las 6:15 a. m., una misa escolar a las 8:30 a. m. y una misa multicultural a las 7:00 p. m. con rosario multilingüe a las 6:00 p. m.
Están todos invitados a la Noche de Cine gratuita el domingo 14 de diciembre. Se proyectará la película de 1992 en la oficina parroquial. Habrá una función a las 4:30 p. m. en inglés y otra a las 6:30 p. m. en español. Se ofrecerán palomitas y bebidas.
Este es el último domingo de noviembre. Por favor, recuerden recoger la imagen de su ser querido fallecido del altar de reposo en el vestíbulo. El altar será desmontado esta semana.

P: ¿Qué es un día de precepto?
R: Un día festivo (de donde proviene el término secular “festivo”) de precepto incluye todos los domingos y solemnidades especiales elegidas por los obispos de una nación, como Navidad o Todos los Santos. En estos días, todos los católicos están obligados a participar en la Misa e incluso a observar un adecuado descanso de mente y cuerpo (CIC, 1247).
El uso técnico de la palabra “precepto” puede parecer una obligación o un requisito. Pero si bien abrazar a nuestros hijos, amar a nuestra pareja o estar presente en los momentos difíciles de la vida de un amigo son, técnicamente, obligaciones, no solemos pensar en ellas de esa manera, ya que estos actos surgen naturalmente de nuestro deseo de mostrar nuestro amor a los demás. De igual manera, si bien estos días festivos son técnicamente obligatorios, puede ser útil ver que en realidad son oportunidades para que nos apoyemos mutuamente en comunidad, celebrando juntos nuestro amor compartido por Dios y el prójimo.
Para esta Navidad, los invitamos a participar en nuestro Taller de Parol (pronunciado “pah-roll”) el 6 de diciembre, de 1:00 a 3:00pm, en el Salón de Catecismo, organizado por la Comunidad Filipina.
Crea tu propio y hermoso parol de papel, un farolillo navideño tradicional filipino. El taller tiene un costo de $15. Los niños menores de 5 años deben estar acompañados por un adulto.
