Extraordinary Ministry of the Holy Communion
“Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world.” – John 1:29
At St. Leander’s, serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (EM) is a beautiful and humbling way to share in the heart of our Catholic faith. EMs assist in distributing the Body and Blood of Christ during Mass and, at times, bring the Eucharist to the sick and homebound—extending the love and presence of Christ beyond the church walls.
💛 A Ministry of Presence and Service
This ministry is open to confirmed Catholics in full communion with the Church who feel called to serve with reverence, compassion, and joy. As an EM, you become a visible sign of Christ’s love, helping others encounter Him in the most sacred way.
🕊 Training and Formation
New ministers receive hands-on training that covers both the spiritual meaning of the Eucharist and the practical aspects of the role. Ongoing formation and annual gatherings help deepen your understanding and strengthen our community of ministers.
📅 Flexible and Supportive Scheduling
We understand that life is busy. Our scheduling is formal yet flexible, allowing you to serve in a way that fits your availability while ensuring the needs of the parish are met.
