Refugee Resettlement Project

At the request of Bishop Barber, and with the encouragement of Father Hugo, parishioners are working to resettle a refugee family in the United States.

About the Project

Pope Francis has called for every parish, religious community, monastery, and sanctuary to take in one immigrant family.

Consistent with a long history of outreach and loving care to those who need our help, at the request of Bishop Barber, and with the encouragement of Father Hugo, St. Leander Catholic Church is going to participate in Catholic Charities‘ program to resettle refugee families who are legally entering the United States.

How will this work?

Catholic Charities will provide:

  • Case Management
  • Employment and Job Placement
  • Health Care Management
  • English Instruction

Our parish will provide:

  • Initial Housing
  • Household Goods
  • Social Visits
  • Assistance Connecting with our Local Community

How can I help?

We will do it together. We need all kinds of people with all kinds of talents.

Thanks to your support, we are getting close to the $6,000 that we need to secure before sponsoring a family.
