The Society of St. Vincent De Paul

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”

Matthew 25: 34-36

About St. Vincent de Paul

Born in 1581, St. Vincent de Paul was a French Roman Catholic priest who dedicated himself to serving the poor. He was renowned for his compassion, humility, and generosity and is known as the “Great Apostle of Charity”. His legacy lives on through the St. Leander Conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

St. Leander Parishioners are more committed to living the life of their faith than just attending mass every week. We believe in building a community of compassion and service to our neighbors.

The St. Vincent de Paul Society works hard to make sure that the basic needs of all our neighbors are met and that no one is hungry because of lack of funds. But in order to continue our work, we need your help.

About the Ministry

The mission of the Conference is the mission of the Society: to join together in a bond of friendship, and to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering, in the tradition of our founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul. It seeks to enlarge the scope of its concern by reaching the hidden and new poor, and to match the skills and interests of all its members with the needs of people. The Conference provides willing Christian helpers with opportunities to minister to those in need on a person-to-person basis through home visits, and to serve in its special projects. The Society’s motto is “No work of charity is foreign to the Society.”

Our main ministry is to help the poor in a variety of ways year-round:

  • Maintain a food pantry to feed the hungry.
  •  Prepare and deliver food boxes to those in need.
  • Make and provide lunches to the homeless.
  • Organize Thanksgiving and Christmas food box distribution.
  • Provide financial aid for families and individuals.
