The St. Leander Conference of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”- Matthew 25: 34-36

The mission of the Conference is the mission of the Society: to join together in a bond of friendship, and to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering, in the tradition of our founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul. It seeks to enlarge the scope of its concern by reaching the hidden and new poor, and to match the skills and interests of all its members with the needs of people. The Conference provides willing Christian helpers with opportunities to minister to those in need on a person-to-person basis through home visits, and to serve in its special projects. The Society’s motto is “No work of charity is foreign to the Society.”

Vincentians engage in many types of ministry: Home visits, home food box delivery, walk up for food items at our food locker, serving bagged lunches 3 days/week to our homeless and providing utility/furniture/clothing assistance upon request. We have a Thanksgiving and Christmas food box distribution as well as participate at the SVDP Dining Room in Oakland to serve hot meals. It is through the dedication of our Vincentians and the passion for the poor that we are able to provide these services.
